Well, I totally forgot to wear orange today, for kindness. So I'm going to wear orange tomorrow-please tell your kiddo to wear orange as well!
This morning, I was still out for training but the substitute played, "Would you rather?" during meeting and read the book, Frederick, to them. Then, they read an article about a photographer that takes really cool pictures of ice and snow crystals. Have them show you some! They also worked on making revisions to their informational reports, worked on their ABBC task and read. In Science/Social Studies, the 5th grade kiddos worked on their "Where in the USA?" project while 4th grade students tried to understand frontier life and life as an American settler by completing fun projects like making a yarn doll, packing the covered wagon or building a log cabin using lincoln logs. I was back for math so 4th graders measured angles of polygons and then worked on our math menus to review and practice other measurement skills. (I apologize but I'm not sure what 5th grade kiddos did today...please ask your child what they did in math with Mrs. Tanner or Mrs. Kelly.) Recess wasn't too cold today so we stayed out a little bit longer today. Then, after some quiet time, we read the book, Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker and discussed listening to understand and not listening to respond and how it's good to just listen sometimes. Then, we finished up our fun with body language by playing the good old game, "Telephone" but using body language instead of talking.
Do you ever wonder what a school day in the life of your child looks like? Are you frustrated with the shoulder shrug you receive when asking about their day? Well, wonder no more! Read my daily blog so that you can ask more detailed questions and know more about your child's school life!
